The Day in Court Program CANNOT include physical tours of the courthouse at the start of this 2022-23 school year. HOWEVER . . .

The Superior Court of San Francisco is offering an alternative way for 3rd – 12th grade classes in S.F. to visit with a judge. This should be a real treat for your students.

Dear San Francisco Educators:

Your dedication to and support of your students as the pandemic persists into its third year continues to be amazing. We are grateful for each and every one of you!

We are thrilled that in the next academic year, 2022-2023, we will be able to offer the Judges in the Classroom Program via Zoom. In the Judges in the Classroom Program, your students will receive a visit and lesson from a judge of the San Francisco Superior Court.  The Zoom lessons will last approximately 45 minutes, but Judges will make themselves available for longer if your students have questions either about the lesson or anything else.  In preparation for the Zoom lesson, the teacher should set up a brief planning call with the judge to tailor the lesson to meet the students’ needs.

We are attaching a couple sample LESSON PLANS so you can get an idea of what will be offered and how we tailor the lessons in an age appropriate way.  Please take a few minutes to review the lesson plans. We have received great feedback from judges and students around the state who participated last school year.

It’s quick and easy to sign up: submit a REQUEST and we will match you with a San Francisco Superior Court Judge (Virtual visit only).

Thank you,

Rexanne Biserra, Administrative Analyst II, and
Judge Linda Colfax,
Superior Court of California,
County of San Francisco
